The Biomatrix system operates within a tank or lagoon lined with a non-permeable membrane.  The initial anaerobic and anoxic stages are closed, with contained treatment of odours. The Aerobic stages are  separated using high strength geotextile baffles. Each stage contains a floating matrix of biological treatment components and processes. The biological processes and planted ecologies are contained within a floating HDPE structure which supports a special attached growth treatment media, access walkways, aeration systems and process controls.

Island Units

We have developed a special polyethylene welding system, which enables a durable design and efficient construction, at a
fraction of the cost of the comparative traditional electro-fused weld. The main system components can be manufactured off site allowing even large Biomatrix systems to arrive on the construction site by truck with all of the main components ready for assembly and installation.

Controls

The Biomatrix Cascade incorporates sophisticated controls which allow each stage in the treatment train to be adjusted to provide a dynamic response to changing influent flow and loading. Key treatment process are controlled through continuous online monitoring to maximize both energy and treatment efficiency. Recycle rates, Dissolved Oxygen levels and sludge retention times can all be adjusted manually or automatically to optimize the
treatment process.
