A Royal Visit to Eden Dock
June 13, 2025
Celebrating Nature, Community, and a Living Water City in the Making
We were honoured to welcome Her Majesty The Queen to Eden Dock at Canary Wharf, a landmark project developed by the Canary Wharf Group and the Eden Project.
The visit took place as part of The Big Lunch—a vibrant national celebration of community, connection, and creativity, launched by the Eden Project and supported by Her Majesty, who has been Patron since 2013.
Surrounded by Floating Ecosystems blooming with plant life, the event was a celebration not only of neighbourhood spirit, but of what’s possible when cities bring life back to the waterscape.

Eden Dock: A Thriving Blue-Green Oasis in the Heart of the City
Once a grey, underused stretch of dockland, Eden Dock has been transformed into a dynamic habitat above and below the waterline. Biomatrix Floating Ecosystems have introduced an abundance of plant life and created vital habitat for aquatic life, birds, and pollinators—restoring biodiversity in the heart of London’s financial district.
Her Majesty’s visit to this flourishing urban floating garden was a powerful recognition of the role nature-based design can play in shaping more resilient, inclusive, and beautiful cities.

The Big Lunch: Sharing Food, Stories, and Vision
Held on the 7th and 8th of June, this year’s Big Lunch gathered people from across Tower Hamlets and beyond, bringing together local initiatives, changemakers, and neighbours to share food, ideas, and joy.
For us at Biomatrix Water, it was a reminder that water is not only essential infrastructure—it’s also a powerful connector of people and place.
Bringing Water to Life
At Biomatrix, we believe every city has the potential to bring nature back to its waters. Projects like Eden Dock—delivered in partnership with visionary clients like the Eden Project and Canary Wharf Group —show what’s possible.
